THE END OF THE NOVEL

There are two main characters in the book; Tadashi and Jed. They come from different cultures, they are best friends. They do everything together like going fishing or going to school. In Canada they don't love Japanese. Altough Tadashi's family are Japanese, they don't accept this. They say that they are Canadian. Because they feel like Canadian.    One day Japanese attack to Pearl Harbour and the war begins between two countries. Japanese start to run away from Canada. Jed and his family start to stay in the army. Tadashi and his family leaves the country without taking anything with them. Jed looks after an eagle and he gives it a name called Eddy.
At the end of the book Jed gets a letter from Tadashi and he gets very happy while reading the letter. He thinks he can find Tadashi and replies his letter but Tadashi never reads the letter because he is shot by the guards who guards them. Because they think that Tadashi is a spy. Jed doesn't learn this for a long time. He always tries to find them and writes a lot of letters. But he never gets reply. He goes to Tadashi's house and gets their belongings from there. He hides them for Tadashi. He always believes that they will come back to their house. He dreams they will go to school together again. One day he learns that he was dead. He gets shocked and starts to think that he will come back to earth as an eagle. Because of this he always believes that Eddy is Tadashi.

Third Post!

Hi Everybody,

Today I am going to write a compare contrast essay on my blog. I am going to tell you about similarities and differences between my two books "Same Difference" and "War of the Eagles".
First I am going to tell you the differences between my books. I found two differences. The first difference is that in my book "Same Difference", the author tells a relationship between a girl and her teacher. Emily fell in love with Yates when she first saw Yates at art school. (Discussion Director) But in the book "War of the Eagles", the author tells about two boys who comes from different cultures and countries. One of the things the Japanese and the Tsimsihian share is to respet for age. They both figure the older somebody is the more things they know. If an old person asks you to do something, it is just supposed to be done, no questions asked. (p.15) The second difference between two books is "War of the Eagles" bases on a real life story, characters who faced World War 2 but in the book "Same Differences" the author tells about a girl's diary. She writes what she feels and what happens in her life but this is not a true statemant. It is just a fiction story.
Secondly, I am going to write similarities between my books. There is a similarity that I found between "War of the Eagles" and "Same Difference". The first similarity between the books is that in both books there are two best friends at the same age and the same sexes. For example in my book "Same Difference" there are two girls who are best friends and they do everything together. (Discussion  Director) In the war of the eagles there are two boys who are also best friends and they also do everything together. "I need you to go to Rupert for me and pick up a few things." Naani said. "Rupert! Sure! Tadashi is coming over this morning and he ould come with me. That is if you say it is okay." (p.13-14) We saw from the quoate that Jed said he doesn't go anywhere without Tadashi. He enjoys everything with him. It is also seen in the book "Same Differece", Emily wants to spend her time with Meg but Meg has got a boyfriend beacuse of this they can't always see each other. They can't find to talk about their lives. So Emily starts to write a diary and writes what she feels in to it.

My Favorite Scene

Hi I'm Arın, and I am going to tell you about my favorite two parts from my novel as much as I can. My favorite scene is Tadashi's future dream about his carrier. He wants to see more and more than his father. He doesn't want to be a fisherman like his father. And he says that "I am not going to spend my whole life on the edge of the world. I want to see more, do more than my father. I don't want to be just a fisherman." (p.18). But there is a problem because Canadians don't let Japanese into schools. Tadashi decides to go to Japan to study. Jed ignores Tadashi's thoughts and he says that "What do you mean, Japanese? You were born here. Your father is a naturalized Canadian. You are Canadian." (p.18) But Tadashi isn't a Canadian beacuse he has a yellow skin, slanty dark eyes, dark hair. Jed tries to help him and they start to dream. In their dream Tadashi will be doctor. Tadpole and he will live in a big city, proud father of five children, owner of a large house and fancy car, best of all married to the lovely Kiyoka. While dreaming this a smile comes to his face and feels excited. I think this part shows me how ambitious Tadashi is. I was influenced when I first read his character because he is a hardworking and ambitious boy. He doesn't stay where he is now. He can do what he wants for his carrier. I chose this image because this picture was taken in World War 2. This is a part from a real doctors' life.

Summary

In my book "War of the Eagles" there is a main character whose name is Jed. He is a Tsimshian boy. He lives with his mother and grandmother. His English father serves as a fighter pilot overseas, so he doesn't often see his father. His grandmother is a Tsimshian. His grandmother obeys old traditional Tsimshian rules. She still believes when a Tsimshian dies, if he has led a good life, he comes back to earth as an eagle. She always tells stories about the herbs and plants growing in the forest. Jed has a best friend. His name is Tadashi. He is a Japanese boy. They always be together. They both love hunting. After the hunting, they eat what they hunt. His mother works in an army base. She always work so she comes home once a week. Jed doesn't see his mother, so sometimes he goes to see his mother in her work place. Jed's grandmother is a very intelligent woman. She can not read or write but this does not stop her from telling stories and her clan's history. Jed always does what her grandmother says because in their culture they have to do what older people want them to do.

Reason for Choosing the Video

I choosed this video because it is explaining the mood of my novel. In my novel my main character's mother's and grandmother's people are Tsimsihians. And in their beliefs when aTsimsihian dies, if he has led a good life hecomes back to earth as an eagle or one of the creatures of the forest or ocean. So they dance in the forest to call the creatures of the death  people. This is like a ceremony. In my video the Tsimsihians  chief dance with his speacial clothes. And this is a very special dance because he doesn't always dance like this.
